Aiken Designs Integrated Flange and Lifting Assembly for a BOP

Aiken designed an integrated flange and lifting assembly for a blowout preventer (BOP) in compliance with API 6A specification, which governs wellhead and Christmas tree equipment, and ASME B30.26, which is the safety standard for rigging hardware and lifting equipment used in industrial and construction settings.

In this instance, the client required a high pressure flange that could lift the BOP once the flange was attached. This project was unique in that it required not only intimate knowledge of the API and ASME specifications, but also significant understanding of the client’s operations and lifting procedures. Aiken provided a range of coordinated services as part of its EPIC™ Project Services Program that includes engineering to applicable codes, procuring and installing components and equipment, and customizing the design and processes to meet the client’s unique requirements.
