Aiken Presents at the IADC Lifting & Mechanical Handling Conference and Exhibition

Aiken Engineering participated in the IADC Lifting & Mechanical Handling Conference on July 13,14, 2010, in Houston, Texas. Aiken Engineering’s Michael McDowell, P.E., spoke in a session on onshore lifting issues; in particular, those related to winching and pipe hauling. Michael’s talk focused on the safety and load rating of gin pole trucks. In addition, the IADC Rig Moving Committee’s certification of gin pole trucks was also addressed.

The focus of the conference was on training, technology and sound operations, with particular emphasis on safe crane operations. Speakers included representatives of major global energy, oilfield service, oilfield equipment and trucking companies, Minerals Management Service (MMS), United States Coast Guard and other entities.
